The Future is Today

The fireworks pop and crackle that the past is past.

The last tides of my sun tan receding. The afternoon's cotton candy snow flakes decaying into beady sleet, the ground wet and clean.

New year, new city, new job, new blog template [alterations in progress], and [someday soon] a new car and new friends. A new hope. A total manual reboot. Working on that new/old body too.

The Eve itself is relatively anticlimactic because change has already been in progress for a month. In fact the whole holiday season barely registered its low expectations. Bah humbug but that's too strong. But I can still toast to the inevitable and bewildering optimism of Things To Come with a local 14% grocery-store red-blend.

2016 has no power over me. In the end I'll only remember a vague highlight reel of travels and an overwhelming politicapolypse, while quietly recording over the acute on chronic rejection [personal and professional] with a new and better story.

A tale of adventure. Of a girl [who still thinks of herself as a girl at 33] pushing her limits. Taking it out of cruise control [like I would ever use that] and really seeing what she can do. Boldly going where many have gone before, but you know, by herself, which is a first. Nonfiction, but not a complete chore.
